During the Meeting of the President of the Republic with the economic operators at the Nouakchott convention center on 07/04/2022, the CEO of MCE-SA Mr. Mouhidine Ahmed Salec announced the details of a new project to supply water for the entire central and northern area of Mauritania from the Senegal River, the project is being developed in collaboration with the major Brazilian builder PB Constructioes and will supply water to the mining industry for the beneficiation of the iron ore and also to develop oasis agriculture in these regions.
The project will extend over a length of 1200 km with five pumping stations, its construction time will be 3 years and it will transport 120,000 cubic meters of water per day, it will create 1600 direct jobs including 200 permanent, the life of the project is estimated at 50 years.
